ATU THEATRE PRESENTS ALICE IN WONDERLAND
The Arkansas Tech University Theatre production of Alice in Wonderland will open Friday night, October 16th, in the Techionery on the ATU campus. This version of the Alice in Wonderland story was originally created by the Manhattan Theatre Project, under the direction of André Gregory. Derived from the famous 1960s production, this play uses a fast-paced sketch-comedy approach. Through dream-like movements, the performance style attempts to capture Alice’s confused state of mind. The play is appropriate for audiences, high-school age and up.
Alice in Wonderland is directed by ATU Theatre alumna, Catherine Martin, in her Arkansas Tech directing debut. Playing the title role of Alice, Danville native Jasmine Balch leads an ensemble cast. ATU student designers are responsible for all sets, lights, costumes, props, sound, and special effects appearing in this delightfully disorienting show.
The play runs October 16-18 and 22-25. All Sunday performances are at 2 p.m., with pre-show entertainment starting at 1:30. All other performances start at 8 p.m., with pre-show entertainment at 7:30. The Techionery is located on campus on the corner of El Paso and O, across from Nutt Hall. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8 (general admission) or $5 (student). Tickets will not be sold in advance. For more information, contact the ATU Department of Speech, Theatre, & Journalism at 964-0890.
