Organizers say balloon competition flights scheduled for Saturday as part of the 2011 Legends Balloon Rally that begins Friday have been moved from the Municipal Airport and will now take place over portions of the city.

"Anticipated wind conditions have caused us to move the Saturday competitive launches to another site," said Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs. "Now, the competing balloons will be visible over portions of the city."

"The airport now will be open for the Rally at 11AM instead of earlier in the morning," he said. "The fly-in at the Airport will be at 5:30PM, and the balloon glow will still take place at 7PM."

No other portions of the festival, including free music concerts Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 will be changed, Arrison said.

The Charlie Daniels Band performs Friday night and Three Dog Night on Saturday night.

"The Saturday afternoon Arkansas Razorback tailgate party will take place as planned, with a 20-foot jumbotron TV screen tuned in to the football game, and vendors will be selling all the refreshments necessary to make this a great afternoon of entertainment for our fans," Arrison said. "No coolers or food and drinks may be brought in, but we'll have enough of those things available from our vendors to make for a real fine tailgating experience. Fans should bring their own chairs. No pets are allowed."

Arrison said free American flags to wave at the Charlie Daniels concert will be handed out to the crowd starting at 4:30PM on Friday afternoon, and free copies of collector cards featuring the Spa Force One hot air balloon sponsored by Visit Hot Springs will be given out Saturday starting at 4:30PM.

The 2011 Rally has been named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Association.

In addition to the two free concerts, there will be the excitement of America's best hot air balloonists engaging in competitive events in the skies above the city. Hot Springs' own hot-air balloon, Spa Force One, will be on hand for all the events.

"Of course, the balloon glows at sunset will be featured," Arrison said. "The crowds have been tremendous for these beautiful shows that light up the big balloons from inside just before the concerts begin. We will have balloon glows both Friday and Saturday nights."

Also, Arrison said, there will be a repeat of the classic auto show that was a hit with spectators the first three years of the Rally.
