Homes near it also suffered heavy damage, but neighbors say it could have been much worse.

Cell phone video taken from the scene of this weekend's fire, shows the flames burning out of control.

"Everybody was out on the streets," said Kanduss Williams who said they saw the flames leaping from house to house.

Monday the sides of those trees, facing the home, are black.

Fire investigator's said the flames not only destroyed the home where it started, but caused more than $100,000 in damage to two neighboring homes.

"Those two houses got all the damage," said Williams.

Williams mother-in-law lives a few houses down.

"Mom said she was just happy a branch didn't fly over here because everything was flying," Williams said.

The home where the fire started was abandoned, but fire investigators said it was started intentionally.

There was nobody inside the houses next door, but only because of the man who lives next door.

"He just ran out and you know just ran to everyone's house," she said.

Williams sai the neighbor, who declined to speak on camera, ran towards the flames and woke everyone inside the homes up.

"I'd always had respect for him he's always been a nice person," she said. "But it's a whole new level of respect."

A building gone and near-by houses destroyed doesn't compare to if the neighbor hadn't been there.

Fire investigators said homeless folks have been living in the house from time to time, but right now there is now clear suspect or information on why the fire was started.
