Update (February 22): A man accused of a home invasion in Benton earlier this week has been arrested in Texas.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office says Derek Dione Wilkerson, 41, has been taken into custody in Dallas by a U.S. Marshal's Service task force from that area.
Original report (February 21): A Saline County couple has lost property including their car after waking up to a burglar inside their home.
It happened just a few minutes after midnight this morning at a home alongside Interstate 30 in Benton.
Deputies with the Saline County Sheriff's Office say the victims told them a black man confronted them and demanded items and money before also taking their car and driving away.
The vehicle is a white 2004 Ford Mustang convertible with tan top and Arkansas license plate 416 RAM.
The SCSO says information was obtained about a potential suspect, and the victims positively identified Derek Dione Wilkerson, 41, of Mesquite, Texas, from a photo line-up.
An arrest warrant has been issued and it is believed Wilkerson is in Texas. Texas law
enforcement agencies and U.S. Marshal's Service have been notified and are looking for him.
Wilkerson faces the following string of charges in the Benton incident:
