Friends and strangers come to the aid of a Bismarck family whose home was destroyed by strong winds Monday afternoon.

Winds barreled through the Thornton home on Monday while four of the family members were inside.

They say it happened so quickly they didn't have time to get scared, and it even threw one person out of the shower.

He landed safely among the debris.

Volunteers say they didn't mind helping such a good family.

"When they give so much to the community, the community wants to try to give back as much as they could last night and as much as they could now," says Parker Hancock, who was on hand to help with the cleanup.

The family says they had more than 200 volunteers help them with cleanup right after it happened.

They plan to rebuild in the same spot.
