UPDATE: Murder Charge Filed in Searcy Shooting

SEARCY, AR - Kelon Jackson is now charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of 24-year-old Mahala Hutchins.

According to the Searcy Police Department, officers responded to the St. Charles Apartments on South Sherwood drive just after 9:00 Friday morning, where they Hutchins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Hutchins was taken to the White County Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Jackson, listed as a person of interest at the time, was apprehended in North Little Rock Friday afternoon and was arrested on outstanding warrants of misdemeanor terroristic threatening and harassing communications out of White County.

Detectives with the Searcy Police traveled to North Little Rock to interview Jackson, after which he was charged with murder. He will now be taken to the White County jail where he will be held on a $500,000 bond.
