A man who used to serve as a local constable has been arrested for impersonating a police officer.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says Tom Clowers of Springdale had been using a car with markings and blue lights (pictured) to pull people over posed as a police officer.

Sheriff Kelley Cradduck says they obtained a search warrant for his home as part of the investigation.

Clowers previously served as a Washington County constable before losing a bid for re-election in 2012.

He was taken to the Benton County Jail Friday afternoon and faces charges of impersonating an officer and operating blue lights.
