Despite Scare, Some Refusing to Get Flu Shot

Doctors are the region are calling this one of the most severe flu seasons in recent history. Doctor's offices are swamped with patients. Despite that, a lot of people simply refuse to get a flu shot.
Memphis resident Warren A'Triplett is one of those that refuse. He told abc24.com, "I don't trust the shots." Triplett says his distrust comes from personal experience dealing with doctors. "They give you the shot one minute, the next minute they come back it's something wrong."
Dr. Stephen Threlkeld, an infectious disease specialist, says "The risk of getting the shot is so much higher than the risk of not getting the shot."
Norman Chapman hasn't taken a flu shot either. Chapman says he decided against it after his friends told him, "They took the flu shot and they got the flu. That outweighs why doctors say you should get it."
