An ambitious plan to build a nearly $4 million center for homeless children is moving forward.

Our House has raised $2.8 million over the past year, and it is now less than $1 million away from hitting its goal.

The charity group plans to put the project out to bid next month.

"I think there are so many people in our community who look at the face of homelessness and as soon as they know there are literally hundreds of homeless children in the community, they want to do something," says Our House Executive Director Georgia Mjartan.

Our House plans to start construction in April.
