Arkansas' senior senator says he's working hard to protect the state's Air Force bases as the Pentagon weighs major cuts to military spending.

Senator Mark Pryor toured Little Rock Air Force Base on Wednesday, making it clear he's unhappy with the way the Air Force has talked about cuts and that Arkansas' bases are vital to national security.

"With a shrinking budget, we need to keep the most efficient, most effective units that we have and certainly Ft. Smith is that and LRAFB is that, so we want to make sure that we're maximizing every dollar we can," Pryor said.

Senator Pryor says Little Rock Air Force Base will see some changes to some of its C-130 planes, and that he wants to make sure the base makes it through those changes.
