What could have simply been considered a loss in merchandise by one store's owner became an important lesson about video surveillance.

"What shirt was it?" Greg Rudkin owner of Evolve clothing store on Cantrell said the Little Rock Police Officer asked him. "And I said this one right here."

But let's be clear the shirt he was holding is not the exact shirt in question, which will be more important once you know exactly what this shopper did.

Rudkin said two men came into his store Saturday browsing his racks.

"One of the gentlemen decided to try on a shirt," said Rudkin. "He obviously fell in love with the shirt."

When the men left Rudkin noticed an empty hanger and decided to check his surveillance video.

"Of course we have our cameras, right here so it was a perfect shot," he said.

But what it showed, he said, he could have never expected.

"Took the tag off, rolled it up," Rudkin said. "And proceeded to shove it down his pants."

Shoving the shirt into an unmentionable area, but forever making it his very own.

"I guess claiming it," said Rudkin. "And you know at this point he can keep the shirt!"

Everyone is struggling these days, Rudkin said, that he works hard seven days a week and doesn't appreciate someone taking advantage of that.

So he wasn't going to just let this guy get away scott free.

"I'm hoping he thinks twice before he does it again," he said. "And a little punishment or embarrassment never hurt."

By posting the video on facebook as well as clear shots of the Grinch's face.

Rudkin. though, not letting it get him down.

"Merry Christmas to everyone and please shop local this season," he said.

So remember it might not always be Santa who's watching whether you've been naughty or nice.

Rudkin already knew the name of the customer, but people on Facebook were quick to also help identify him.

He hasn't yet been charged with any crime, but a police report has been filled.
