Security is now the rule in Pine Bluff.

Gas stations and fast food restaurants in the city will be required to install surveillance cameras to help combat crime.

The city council voted for an ordinance mandating the video camera systems be installed in those businesses that open after the first of the year.

Failure to comply could result in misdemeanor charges.

This ordinance is the first of its kind in Arkansas.

An alderman sponsored it after the shooting death of a gas station clerk in September.
