Family: Hospitalized Star City Football Player Getting Closer to Discharge, Not Yet Awake

Update (December 17):
A comatose Star City High School football player hospitalized for nearly seven weeks is getting closer to being discharged.
That's according to Jim Towers, the father of Zack Towers, who shares his son's latest condition today via Facebook:
Zack is doing well and getting closer to discharge. The Docs are beginning to reduce some of his medications to see how he will do. Some of his numbers have been altered a little but he is still doing fine. He is still moving more and more. He is moving his lips more and his eyelids are still active. God is so good. Thx for all the prayers and support. Zack and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
Towers, a senior, has been hospitalized since November 1st when he collapsed on the football field.
Update (December 14):
Zack Towers continues to improve.
According to the Prayers for Zack Towers Facebook page, Zack moved his lips on Thursday for the first time, and his body movements are getting stronger.

Six weeks after a head injury on the football field left him hospitalized in a coma, Star City High School senior linebacker Zack Towers has opened one eye.
Here are two social media posts from today explaining Zack's latest recovery milestones:
Twitter post from Zack's brother Ty Towers: Dad just texted me and said Zack opened his right eye. It didn't stay open long, but it did indeed open! Way to go Little Bro!
Facebook: "He moved around alot last tonight. He is getting stronger as well. All praise and glory to God. He is still coughing strong and doing well. Zack has gotten a ton of cards and well wishes and I read them all to him last night. God continues to work on him as he sleeps. Our God is a loving and healing God. Special thx to everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness God is in control. Gods got this!"

A comatose Star City High School football player hospitalized for more than a month is showing signs of waking up.
Zack Towers has been moving around a lot over the past two weeks, and today moved his eyelids.
That's according to posts on social media sites created to share information about and pray for his recovery.
Towers, a senior, has been hospitalized since November 1st when he collapsed on the football field in the Bulldogs' home game against the Crossett Eagles.
Since then he has had surgery and battled a fever. He started breathing on his own three weeks ago and was moved out of intensive care last week.
Last weekend, a benefit race/walk-a-thon in Star City raised $2,000 for the Towers family.
