In the Texarkana area, the high school on the Texas side of town is upping the ante in giving its students a head start on higher education.

The district has announced a new program that will allow students to take college level courses while in high school.

Students would be allowed to complete enough courses to earn an associate degree at the same time they pick up their high school diploma.

On the Arkansas side of the line, the Texarkana School District also provides some college level courses, but so far, not enough to qualify for an associate degree.
