First, Jon Gruden joining Arkansas as its next head coach was a done deal. Now, there are rumors coming everywhere from New Orleans newspapers to ESPN that Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long has offered LSU head coach Les Miles a 5-year contract worth more than $5 million a year.
As of late Tuesday, Times-Picayune writer Jim Kleinpeter was reporting that Arkansas had made Miles a 'serious offer.' Kleinpeter went on to write about why the offer may have legs including Miles' relationship with Cowboys owner and Arkansas alum Jerry Jones.
Miles is scheduled to address the media during a regularly scheduled news conference Wednesday at 2 p.m.
All the buzz may have been what caused Hogville to go down momentarily Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday evening, the Les Miles rumors started to heat up and the Twitterverse went wild with head hog talk. At 9 p.m. Tuesday, @sportsbybrooks (who initially reported the Miles offer) and @tommurphyadg (who went on the record squashing the rumor) were both trending in Little Rock, according to trendsmap.com
As of Tuesday night, the Razorback Nation is hearing Jeff Long met with the Razorback Foundation directors to discuss details of a contract for the next head coach. Razorback Nation sources indicate an announcement on the next coach could happen next Tuesday.
