The the small community of Woodson just outside Little Rock, is the latest example.
"I didn't even really take it serious," said Leonard King.
Around 6:00 PM Saturday night, Leonard King said he stopped by to pick up a snack, and stumbled into the middle of a robbery.
"I just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time," he said.
Two men with guns had already cleared the cash register of its $3,000.
When they confronted King and told him what to do next, "Go over behind the counter and lay down so I did," he said, "After I looked down and seen the gun."
King said he was on the floor but his friend waiting outside saw the witnesses leave the store run across the street where they were picked up in a waiting vehicle.
"I don't wish it on nobody I really don't said King. "I just thank the lord because it could have been worse than what it was."
King is out his $65 but said he's thankful to have walked away from the robbery unharmed and hopes his town returns to being the peaceful, safe one he knows.
Witnesses said they were able to identify one of the men as being black but unfortunately sheriff officials don't have a lot more to go on.
