Community Matters: Little Rock Church Celebrates 149 Years of Worship

The oldest Methodist church in Little Rock turned 149 on Sunday.

The historic Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, that counts three of the Little Rock Nine as members, the occasion on Sunday.

A special guest messenger, who's father preached at the church for over 30 years, was brought in for the special occasion and had a special message to deliver.

"Faith has brought us thus far, as the old gospel number goes we've come this far by faith," said special guest, Dr. James R. Young Sr.

Members said a special deceleration sent by Governor Mike Beebe signaling out the momentous occasion, also made the day that much more special
