Deadly Situation for Farm Animals at LR's Dunbar Community Garden

Chris Wyman, Assistant Garden Program Coordinator said he walked in to find the unspeakable earlier this week.
"I noticed two goats on the ground, but I did not notice the dogs yet, they were hanging out behind the house," he explained.
Wyman said the pair of strays off the street came in underneath a fence that surrounds the garden - killing a rooster - a rabbit named Mister Snowflakes and two miniature goats -- known as Kid and Play.
"These were mixed breed, one looked kind of like a Rottweiler, black with a tan chest, but definitely not a Rottweiler, a lot smaller. The other was definitely a mixed breed as well, all white with some black and brown spots.
A terrible loss for the community garden in the middle of the city that grows organic vegetables, flowers and teaches kids like Robin about animals.
"What all do you see on the farm? My chickens. And what else? Chickens and more chickens," the girl says.
Robin hasn't been told about what happened to Mister Snowflakes or Kid and Play, but others have received the news.
"The kids were sad, I spoke with first graders yesterday and I tried to tell them gently," said Susan Alman, Education Director.
Chris said they haven't really had problems with wild dogs in the garden in the past three years.
"It's just not something you see in the inner city," he said.
In the meantime the Dunbar Garden that normally serves the community now needs the community's help.
"Our friend Melissa Fultz that helped us get these goats, she is more than happy to help us out in the spring when we decide to do it again."
